How Billing Works
Billing cycle
Monthly plans are billed on the same day each month (the day you first subscribed). Annual plans are billed once per year. Your billing date and next payment amount are visible under Settings > Billing.
Payment methods
ClearView accepts all major credit and debit cards via Stripe. You can update your payment method at any time under Settings > Billing > Manage Subscription.
Invoices and receipts
Invoices are generated automatically for every payment and are accessible through the Stripe billing portal. Click "Manage Subscription" in Settings > Billing to view and download invoices.
Annual billing
Save up to 20% by switching to annual billing. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time. When switching to annual, you pay for the full year immediately and receive a prorated credit for any remaining time on your monthly plan.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Stripe will retry automatically over the next few days. You will receive email notifications about the failure. If payment is not resolved within 14 days, your account is downgraded to the Free plan. Your data is preserved for 30 days after downgrade.
Upgrading Your Plan
Upgrades take effect immediately. You are charged a prorated amount for the remaining days in your current billing cycle.
Go to Settings > Billing
Open the ClearView dashboard and navigate to Settings > Billing in the sidebar.
Click "Change Plan"
You will see your current plan highlighted. Select the plan you want to upgrade to.
Confirm and pay
Review the prorated charge and click "Confirm Upgrade". Your new plan limits are active immediately — no need to log out or refresh.
Downgrading Your Plan
Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access to your current plan until that date.
Data Retention on Downgrade
What Happens When You Hit a Limit
| Limit | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Identifications | New company identifications are paused. The tracking script continues to collect anonymous page views. Existing identified companies continue to be tracked and scored. Resets at the start of the next billing cycle. |
| Enrichments | New enrichment jobs cannot be started. Existing enriched data remains accessible. Resets at the start of the next billing cycle. |
| Page views | Tracking continues but new page views are not recorded. Lead scores may become stale until the next cycle. Resets at the start of the next billing cycle. |
| Audience exports | New exports cannot be started. Existing exported files remain downloadable for 24 hours. Resets at the start of the next billing cycle. |
You will receive email notifications at 80% and 100% of each limit. You can upgrade your plan at any time to immediately increase all limits.
Spend Guardrails (Auto-Throttle)
ClearView runs a five-state spend guard on the identification and enrichment pipelines to protect both your bill and ours from runaway activity (a misconfigured tracker, a bot wave, a cost anomaly upstream). This is a backstop — under normal conditions you will never see guardrails change anything. When they do trip, here's what happens:
| State | Effect on your account |
|---|---|
| Nominal | Default state. Nothing throttled. |
| Warning | Internal alert only. No customer-facing change. |
| Action | ClearView begins protective measures — for example, reducing per-site rate caps. You may see fewer new identifications during the window. Existing data and scoring continue normally. |
| Critical | Stronger protection: identification ingest is paused for the account or site that's spiking. Tracker and dashboard remain available. We will reach out if your account is affected. |
| Emergency | Last resort. Used to protect against runaway upstream cost or abuse. Restored as soon as the underlying signal recovers or an operator overrides. |
Guardrails are evaluated automatically on an hourly cadence and de-escalate as soon as the underlying signals return to nominal. They do not affect your monthly plan limits or your billing — they only ever pause or reduce ingest temporarily.
If you see fewer identifications than usual
GET /api/health/5x5-data first. If you suspect a guardrail is active on your account, contact support and we'll confirm and explain.Cancellation
