Cohort Insights & Analytics
Aggregate intelligence about who visits your site and when
ClearView Cohort Insights analyze your visitor data in aggregate to reveal patterns about your audience. Instead of looking at individual companies, Cohort Insights answer questions like "What industries visit us most?", "Which content attracts high-scoring leads?", and "What day of the week do our best prospects browse?" Use these insights to refine your ICP, optimize content strategy, and target ad spend more effectively.
The Five Insight Dimensions
ClearView computes insights across five dimensions, each designed to answer a specific strategic question about your visitor base.
| Dimension | What It Tells You | Strategic Use |
|---|---|---|
| Top Industries | Which industries your visitors come from, ranked by visitor count and average lead score | Validate or refine your ICP. If fintech companies visit more than healthcare, your messaging and targeting should reflect that. |
| Company Size Breakdown | Distribution of visitors by employee count: 1-50, 51-200, 201-1000, 1001-5000, 5000+ | Understand whether you attract SMBs, mid-market, or enterprise. Align your pricing and sales motion accordingly. |
| Top Pages by Lead Score | Which pages are viewed most frequently by high-scoring (Hot) leads | Identify your highest-converting content. Double down on what attracts serious buyers. Improve pages that hot leads visit but bounce from. |
| Top Referrers | Where your B2B traffic comes from – search engines, social media, referral sites, direct, paid ads | Allocate marketing budget to channels that drive the most qualified traffic. Cut spend on channels that bring low-quality visitors. |
| Day-of-Week Activity | Which days see the most visitor activity and highest average lead scores | Time your outbound outreach, content publishing, and ad campaigns for when your audience is most active and engaged. |
Dimension Details
Top Industries
ClearView categorizes every identified company by industry using enrichment data. The Top Industries insight ranks industries by the number of unique companies that visited your site during the selected time period. Each industry row shows:
- Number of unique companies from that industry
- Average lead score across those companies
- Percentage of total identified traffic
Industries with high visitor counts but low average scores may indicate brand awareness without purchase intent. Industries with fewer visitors but high scores are your best-fit verticals.
Company Size Breakdown
This dimension groups visitors into five company size buckets based on employee count. The breakdown helps you understand your natural market segment. If 60% of your high-intent traffic comes from companies with 51-200 employees, that is a strong signal about where your product-market fit lives.
| Size Bucket | Employee Range | Typical Segment |
|---|---|---|
| Startup | 1 – 50 | Seed to Series A companies, self-serve buyers |
| SMB | 51 – 200 | Growing companies, emerging sales teams |
| Mid-Market | 201 – 1,000 | Established companies with procurement processes |
| Enterprise | 1,001 – 5,000 | Large organizations, multi-stakeholder deals |
| Large Enterprise | 5,000+ | Fortune 500, complex enterprise sales cycles |
Top Pages by Lead Score
This insight ranks your site pages by the average lead score of the companies that visit them. Unlike standard analytics that show raw page views, this filters for qualified B2B traffic only. A blog post with 50 views from hot leads is more valuable than a landing page with 500 views from cold traffic.
Use this to identify content that resonates with your best-fit buyers and to spot content gaps – if hot leads visit your features page but you have no case studies for their industry, that is an opportunity.
Top Referrers
See which external sources drive your B2B visitors. ClearView groups referrers into categories (organic search, paid search, social, referral, direct) and shows the average lead score for each source. This is especially useful for evaluating paid channels – if Google Ads drives traffic with an average score of 55 but LinkedIn Ads drives traffic scoring 72, you know where to shift budget.
Day-of-Week Activity
This chart shows visitor volume and average lead score for each day of the week. Most B2B sites see peak activity Tuesday through Thursday, but your pattern may differ. If your hottest leads browse on Mondays, schedule outreach for Monday afternoon when they are already thinking about your category.
Accessing Cohort Insights
There are two ways to access Cohort Insights:
Dashboard
Navigate to Analytics > Cohort Insights in your ClearView dashboard. Select a date range (7d, 30d, 90d, or custom) and explore each dimension in interactive charts and tables. Export data as CSV for further analysis.
API
Use the /api/v1/insights endpoint to fetch insight data programmatically. This is useful for building custom dashboards, feeding data into BI tools, or automating weekly reports.
Using Insights Strategically
Cohort Insights are most valuable when used to drive decisions across marketing, sales, and product. Here are the three primary use cases:
Refine Your ICP
Compare your assumed ICP against what the data shows. If you built your messaging for enterprise fintech but your hottest leads are mid-market SaaS companies, the data is telling you something. Use Top Industries and Company Size Breakdown to validate or adjust your ideal customer profile quarterly.
Optimize Content Strategy
Top Pages by Lead Score reveals which content attracts decision-makers versus casual browsers. Create more content in the categories that attract hot leads. Improve or retire content that only draws cold traffic. Use this data to brief your content team with evidence-backed topics.
Target Ad Spend
Top Referrers shows which channels bring qualified traffic. Stop wasting budget on channels that drive vanity metrics and double down on sources with high average lead scores. Combine with Day-of-Week Activity to schedule ad campaigns on your highest-engagement days.
